Graveside services for Eoline Arnold, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Restlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Ben Shinn officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
Eoline passed away at the age of 104, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Wesley House. She was the eldest woman of Hopkins County and was recently recognized by Mayor John Sellers and Governor Gregg Abbott. She was born on May 9, 1918, in Greenville, TX, the daughter of Robert E. and Lorn Adair Smith. She married Harold Arnold on June 7, 1938, in Greenville, TX.
Together they co-owned Arnold’s and later Montgomery Wards Store. She was also a homemaker with a tremendous sense of humor. She loved flowers and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her chocolate and pecan pies. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Eoline is survived by daughter, Betty Dodd and husband John, grandchildren, Angela Dodd Miller, David Dodd, great-grandchildren, Matthew Miller, Nathan Miller, Andrew Miller and wife Ashley, and great-great-grandchildren, Savonti, Jack, and Ruth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, and sisters, Mabel Horner, Lois King, and Pauline Fleming.
